Fire department has gone through almost 5,000 sandbags in a month

The Gallup Fire Department says it has gone through almost 5,000 sandbags in the last month, filling them as fast as people arrive to pick them up. The McKinley County Sheriff's Office took a crew over to Station 1, which filled about 300 bags and loaded another 100 into vehicles for people stopping by.

The Gallup Fire Department has gone through almost 5,000 sandbags in the last month, the department said, filling them as fast as people arrive to pick them up.

The McKinley County Sheriff's Office took a crew over to Station 1 to lend a hand, in preparation for current weather reports. The team filled about 300 bags and loaded another 100 into vehicles for people stopping by, the sheriff's office said.
