West Y arrest on a felony warrant turns up 48 suspected fentanyl pills

A Gallup police officer checking the West Y for narcotics activity arrested Isaac Garcia on an active felony warrant and seized 48 suspected fentanyl pills, the department said.

Officer Jordan Gemme was conducting an area check on Sept. 23 at the West Y, located at W. Coal Avenue and W. Highway 66, where the Gallup Police Department said it has received multiple complaints of narcotics activities.

Gemme identified a man on a bicycle as Isaac Garcia, who police said was known to have an active felony warrant. A wants and warrants check through NCIC confirmed the warrant, and Metro Dispatch later verified it, according to the department.

Gemme arrested Garcia and searched him. Police said the search turned up 48 suspected fentanyl pills, suspected methamphetamine, numerous pieces of aluminum foil consistent with narcotics distribution, and drug paraphernalia including a glass pipe and straw.

All the evidence will be submitted for laboratory analysis, the department said. Garcia was transported to the McKinley County Adult Detention Center.

The department said Garcia was booked on Aug. 29 on similar charges, which also involved a firearm.
