Navajo police ask for help finding Leonard Platero Jr., 50

The Navajo Police Department's Crownpoint District posted the notice late Sept. 1. Platero was last seen Aug. 16 in Tohajiilee and may be traveling in a black GMC SUV.

The Navajo Police Department is asking the public for help finding Leonard Platero Jr., 50, who it says was last seen Sunday, Aug. 16, in Tohajiilee. The department posted the notice late Sept. 1 through its Crownpoint District.

Police describe Platero as 6 feet 1 inch tall and 240 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. They say he was last seen wearing a black Spiderman shirt, black shorts and black-and-red retro Jordans, and that he has the word “Lipan” tattooed on his left forearm and “Mescalero” on his right. He is Mescalero Apache.

The notice says Platero is traveling in a black GMC SUV with New Mexico license plate 575XDA, that he is diabetic and that he wears prescription eyeglasses.

The poster the department released adds that Platero has been entered into the National Crime Information Center database.
