Navajo police count about 72 people missing across the Nation, some since the 1970s
About 72 people are missing in the Navajo Nation, some of them since the 1970s, according to an updated poster from the Navajo Police Department. Fourteen of the open cases are in the Window Rock district and 11 are in Crownpoint; the rest are spread across five more districts. Anyone with information can call or text the Navajo Police Department Tip Line at (928) 686-8563.

About 72 people are missing in the Navajo Nation, some of them since the 1970s, according to an updated poster from the Navajo Police Department.
The department counts 20 females and 52 males among the open cases, and it breaks them down by district: Window Rock has 14, Crownpoint has 11, Shiprock has 10, Tuba City has 13, Kayenta has 9, Dilkon has 8 and Chinle has 7.
Of the 72 cases, 42 are assigned to the department's own Missing Person Unit. The other 30 are assigned to the Navajo Nation Department of Criminal Investigations, BIA or FBI.
