McKinley County crews reached a remote medical emergency by going near Laguna

McKinley County Fire Rescue and McKinley County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the far southeast portion of the county for a medical emergency on Aug. 13, the fire department said.

The only access to this area was to go near Laguna and then go north, according to the department. Assistance was requested from Laguna Fire and EMS as well as New Mexico State Police.

When units arrived at a staging area, they learned that PHI Med 53 was also on the scene, along with a Sandoval County Deputy, the department said.

The department thanked Marquez community members who helped its crews get up to the scene, calling their help invaluable. It also thanked the communication centers that assisted: McKinley Metro Dispatch, Cibola Regional Dispatch, Sandoval County Dispatch and Laguna Dispatch.

It said the multi-agency response highlights how well the agencies can work together.
