School board gives proposed dress code changes a first reading

The Gallup-McKinley County Schools board held a first reading of proposed dress code changes on Sept. 17, the district said. The full proposal is posted at https://aptg.co/kyNc23, and comment goes to policyreview@gmcs.org until Oct. 2. A second reading and final vote is set for Oct. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the regular board meeting, which the district said anyone may attend.

The Gallup-McKinley County Schools board held a first reading of proposed dress code changes on Sept. 17, the district said.

The district said the proposal was built directly from what students, parents and the community told it in its spring 2026 surveys.

The full proposal is posted at https://aptg.co/kyNc23. Comment goes to policyreview@gmcs.org until Oct. 2.

The board's second reading and final vote is set for Oct. 15 at 5:30 p.m. at the regular board meeting, which the district said anyone is welcome to attend.
