Navajo Head Start is enrolling children ages 3 to 5, and the Crownpoint Chapter posted the notice for Crownpoint Head Start Unit 1.
The program runs 52 centers across the Navajo Nation, the flyer says, and offers both center base and home base programs. It describes comprehensive services that support children, families and local communities.
The flyer says the program promotes school readiness by enhancing children's cognitive, social and emotional development, with a strong emphasis on Navajo language and culture.
For a child who has an Individualized Education Program, it says the program provides effective teaching strategies, appropriate accommodations, individualized planning and a supportive learning environment.
Other listed services are an educational curriculum, developmental screenings, monthly parent trainings, and connections to community resources and partnerships.
