The Gallup City Council will hear three appeals of Planning and Zoning Commission decisions at a special meeting Monday, Sept. 21, according to a legal notice from the city clerk.
The meeting is at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at Gallup City Hall, 110 West Aztec Avenue.
Two of the appeals concern a conditional use permit for heavy manufacturing on land in the Industrial zone about 5.19 miles west of U.S. 491, along and north of Carbon Coal Road. The commission approved the permit. Hari Achuthan requested it for Convalt Manufacturing, LLC, on behalf of the property owner, Gallup Land Partners, LLC.
Patricia Sheely and others are appealing that approval. Convalt is also appealing the decision, which the notice says approved the permit while deleting the non-glass Phase 2 operations of the heavy manufacturing use.
The third appeal is by Ahmad Ayesh, the owner of 6.1870 acres at 1605 through 1623 Mark Avenue, in the Sunrise Subdivision. The commission disapproved the request to rezone the land from Single-Family Residential Type C to Multi-Family Residential High.
Copies of the agenda are available 72 hours before the meeting at the city clerk's office at city hall and on the city's website.
