Both lanes reopen on State Route 371 after a head-on crash with a fatality at Lake Valley

Both northbound and southbound lanes are open again on State Route 371, at milepost 55, in Lake Valley, after a two-vehicle head-on crash with a fatality.

In an update timed at 6:24 p.m., the Navajo Police Department said NMDOT is still on scene removing debris from the road, and asked drivers to use caution in the area. Speeding was a factor of the accident, the department said.

The department had reported the crash at 9:31 a.m., with both lanes closed and drivers asked to avoid the area and take an alternate route.

The Navajo Police Department Crownpoint District, Navajo Nation Fire & Rescue Services and Navajo EMS were on scene, the department said.
