A 14-foot painting goes up in UNM-Gallup's nursing building

A 14-foot-wide acrylic painting by Colorado artist Mark C. Yaeger was installed Friday in the Nursing Career Center at UNM-Gallup. The piece is called "The Prairie Septet" and was procured as part of the New Mexico Art in Public Places Program. The nursing building is open to the public during regular business hours, and UNM-Gallup asks visitors to stay quiet because students are studying there.

A 14-foot-wide acrylic painting by Colorado artist Mark C. Yaeger was installed Friday in the Nursing Career Center at UNM-Gallup.

UNM-Gallup said the painting is called "The Prairie Septet" and that Yaeger, who also goes by Radeaux, installed it himself. The piece was procured as part of the New Mexico Art in Public Places Program.

The nursing building is open to the public during regular business hours, and UNM-Gallup encourages students and community members to see the painting in person.

It asks visitors to be mindful and quiet in the building because future health care professionals are busy learning and studying there.
