Recent posts about cooling conditions at Gallup High School contain unsubstantiated and misleading claims. GMCS Administration responded the same day it was first notified — August 5, 2026 — installing 36 supplemental air conditioning units within weeks and subsequently working to replace broken roof exhaust fans discovered while supplemental units were being installed. Additionally, the District has procured design work and engineering to add permanent heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) to portions of the building.
GMCS has invested over $81 Million in HVAC upgrades in 12 schools over the past three years and remains committed to addressing aging infrastructure District-Wide. Our students and staff deserve accurate information, and our families deserve a clear account of what has happened and what GMCS is doing about it.
