A man died after a bear attacked him in Crystal, New Mexico, according to a notice from the Navajo Police Department.

A man died after a bear attacked him in Crystal, New Mexico, according to a notice from the Navajo Police Department.
The Navajo Police Department Window Rock District received a report at about 1 p.m. on Aug. 20 that an adult male had been attacked by a bear, the department said.
The Window Rock District responded with the Navajo Nation Department of Fish and Wildlife, joined by the Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations, according to the notice.
Law enforcement shot and wounded the bear, which fled into nearby woods, the department said. The bear was located and neutralized.
The male victim succumbed due to his injuries, according to the notice.
The department urges the public to stay away from potentially dangerous wildlife and asks anyone who spots a bear to call their nearest district.
