Man arrested after rock shatters Gallup Coffee Company window

A man was arrested early Tuesday after throwing a rock through a window of the Gallup Coffee Company at 203 W. Coal Ave., Gallup police said.

A civilian public service officer patrolling downtown saw the man screaming and acting disorderly about 1:30 a.m. and watched him throw the rock, then called for police and kept watch until officers arrived. The man ran when an officer approached; after a short pursuit and a struggle, officers subdued him with a Taser.

He was arrested on charges of resisting, evading or obstructing an officer and criminal damage to property.

Officers could not reach the business's emergency contact and secured the damaged window themselves. Gallup Today does not name people charged only with minor offenses.
