State recognizes four Gallup-McKinley schools as among its top 25%
The New Mexico Public Education Department recognized four schools in the district, each as a Spotlight School, based on Spring 2026 Student Assessment results. The recognition goes to schools among the top 25% in New Mexico. Red Rock Elementary earned it for the fourth year in a row.

Four schools in Gallup-McKinley County Schools were each recognized as a Spotlight School by the New Mexico Public Education Department based on Spring 2026 Student Assessment results.
The district said the designation is the highest recognition, for schools among the top 25% in New Mexico. Each has an overall index score above the 75th percentile, according to the district's posters.
Red Rock Elementary received the honor for the fourth year in a row, the district said. Its score was the highest of the four, 71.6 out of 100.
Ramah High School scored 67.9, while Indian Hills Elementary scored 61.8 and Jefferson Elementary scored 61.6.
At Indian Hills Elementary, student proficiencies and growth have improved, the district said.
