Voter registration for the Navajo Nation closes Sept. 24, weeks ahead of the state deadline, according to a 2026 election calendar the Navajo Nation Human Rights Commission said.

The calendar, shared by the Navajo Nation Division of Community Development, sets out four separate sets of deadlines — for Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and the Navajo Nation — that all lead to the same general election day of Nov. 3. The registration deadline of Sept. 24 is the earliest of the four.

In New Mexico, voter registration closes Oct. 6, and early voting begins and early ballots are mailed the same day. The last day to request a mailed ballot in the state is Oct. 20, and the last day to vote early in person is Oct. 31.

Early voting on the Navajo Nation begins Oct. 5, which is also the last day to request that a ballot be mailed. The last day to vote early in person is Oct. 30.
