The Route 66 centennial motor tour starts in Gallup on Sept. 8

Gallup is the starting point for the New Mexico Route 66 Association's 2026 Motor Tour, a six-day drive the association lists as an official U.S. Route 66 centennial certified event.
The tour runs Sept. 8 through Sept. 13 and stops in Grants, Albuquerque, Santa Rosa, Las Vegas and Tucumcari after leaving Gallup. Registration and the kickoff are in Gallup on Sept. 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Comfort Suites East Gallup.
That evening, Visit Gallup and El Sombrero Restaurant host a car show pop-up to welcome the drivers. Classic and contemporary cars, travel trailers and motorcycles are all listed as welcome on the tour.
