McKinley County opens early voting Oct. 6 for the Nov. 3 election

Early voting in McKinley County starts Oct. 6 at the McKinley County Rotunda and runs through the end of the month, the county said.

The Rotunda is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 31, according to a Bureau of Elections flyer shared by the Crownpoint Chapter.

Alternate early voting sites open Oct. 17 and close Oct. 31. The Zuni Tribal Building is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., as is the Thoreau Fire Station, and the Rio West Mall runs the same days from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Twin Lakes Chapter House is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Oct. 19 through Oct. 30, as are chapter houses at Manuelito and at Crownpoint.

Same-day registration starts Oct. 6 at the county elections office only, where anyone eligible to vote may register, and it ends Oct. 31. On election day every location offers same-day registration.

Absentee ballots are handled at the Bureau of Elections office at 207 West Hill Ave. The office takes requests from 8 a.m. on Oct. 6 through 5 p.m. on Oct. 20, which is also the last day a mailed ballot may be requested. Mailed ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on election day.

On Nov. 3, voting locations across the county are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and voters from all precincts may vote at any voting center in the county.

Federal, state and county offices are on the ballot, including senator, governor, county sheriff, county assessor, four constitutional amendments, two bonds and a bond for the university.

The county is also hiring poll officials for election day. Applicants must be registered voters in McKinley County and have computer skills.
