Crownpoint Chapter is running its trash transfer station on Tuesday, with a closure over lunch and a cutoff for the last bags before it shuts.

The station is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8. It is closed for lunch from 12 to 1 p.m., and the last bags will be taken at 3:45 p.m. so it can close at 4 p.m. The chapter said the hours are for a limited time until further notice.

The chapter also asked people hauling trash to secure the load. It said to throw a sturdy canvas or plastic tarp over loose garbage in a truck bed, fasten it with heavy-duty ratchet straps, ropes or cargo nets anchored to the tie-down points, and to avoid weak twine or elastic bungee cords. It said restraints should handle speeds up to 70 mph, that nothing should reach higher than the bed sides unless it is netted or tarped, and that drivers should stop shortly after starting to check that nothing has shifted.
