Gallup police are asking drivers to move their vehicles off the downtown parade route ahead of both 104th Gallup Inter-Tribal Indian Ceremonial parades this week.
The night parade starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6. Vehicles must be removed from the route beginning at 2 p.m. that day. The morning parade starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, and vehicles must be removed beginning at midnight, with removal running until 6 a.m.
The route starts at 8th Street and runs east along Coal Avenue and Historic Highway 66 to 1st Street. Participants line up on Historic Highway 66 west of 8th Street, and the gathering point is near Munoz Drive and Aztec Avenue. Cross streets from 1st through 7th are closed where they meet the route.
Aztec Avenue is marked as the through route for traffic that needs to get past downtown while the parade is running.
Police asked people to review the route map before heading downtown, and said arriving early is the best way to get a viewing spot.
