Gallup police name Officer Gemme their 2026 Rookie of the Year

Officer Gemme received the Gallup Police Department's 2026 Rookie of the Year award. Sgt. Martinez-Collins presented the trophy, a Corriente Buckle Company Yeti cup.

Officer Gemme has been named the Gallup Police Department's 2026 Rookie of the Year, the department said Monday.

Sgt. Martinez-Collins presented the award, a Corriente Buckle Company Yeti trophy cup, in a video the department posted to its Facebook page. "Congratulations Officer," the post read. "Thank you for all your hard work."

Officer Gemme is the officer the department credited with the Aug. 29 trespassing arrest at the Munoz overpass, in which a loaded .22 caliber rifle was recovered.
